The use of CCTV is growing and is a great way of keeping an eye on your property.
The world of CCTV can be a maze of jargon with many companies believeing that the more complicated they make it the more they can charge. Here at securitypointUK we believe in bringing you the very best CCTV products at amazing prices all backed up with support to ensure you get your system up and running in no time at all.
To help you better understand CCTV we have provided a quick guide to what it is and how it works.
A CCTV system is typically made up of two parts, the camera (to watch over the desired area) and the monitor (to view the images from the camera).
The Camera needs to send images to the monitor and this is done either by way of a cable connecrting them or via a wireless transmistter. To allow you to see what is happening in low light or at night, some cameras have Infra Red LED's (IR LED) built into them. These LED's send out low level infra red light to allow the camera to be able to see what is happening. The more IR LED's that a camera has, the better the image will be and in low light. Our cameras will have between 6 and 108 IR LED's built in. Another factor to consider when choosing a camera is whether it is to be used outdoors. If so ensure that you chose a camera that is waterproof. Finally some cameras will allow you to hear what is happening near the camera, this is known as One Way Audio.
The Monitor that is used to view the images from the camera needs to have a Video In socket and if your camera has audio, an Audio In socket. You can use an old TV or PC monitor. If you monitor does not have these sockets then providing it has a free scart socket you can easily attached the Video and Audio In cable to the scart socket using a special adaptor.
You can also view images from cameras on your PC or laptop using what is known as a USB DVR Dongle. (DVR stands for Digital Video Recorder). This is a device that plugs into a free USB socket on your PC or laptop and using the supplied software you can then view and record camera images onto the hard drive of your PC / laptop.
We offer CCTV products in three main categories:
1. CCTV Cameras: these are wired cameras that will cover a wide range of applications and uses. You will need to fit cable between the camera and your monitor or use a Wireless Transmitter to wirelessly send the images your monitor. 2. Wireless Camera Sets: these wireless sets include up to four wireless cameras. The cameras will require a power supply but transmit images wirelessly - some cameras can be run off a 9V PP9 battery. The cameras trasnmit images to the receiver which plugs into your monitor so you can view the camera images.
